Dave has helped train my four GP dogs over the last 9 years. He's a good balanced trainer that will support you on and off the training field. He's very knowledgeable with the legal side as well as the training side.

I originally completed my NASDU EDD course back in 2017 with Dave at the Dog Unit, and the training was outstanding. Recently, I returned for refresher training in preparation for my NCTAS-P accreditation, and I couldn’t be more impressed. Initially meeting Dave from the Dog Unit regarding training courses, I found he presented a professional but friendly environment. Hi, I’m Simon, I grew up in Hampshire in the 80s, I knew one of Dave’s crew mates Jim since I was a youngster. I was always intreagued by the police dogs and what they could do. Later on in my life I found myself with german shepherds of my own, being the breed which love to work, it made sense to tap up this Dave guy who Jim had recommended to me. We started training in 2013 with The Dog Unit at Browndown Camp, Gosport. It was a great time.

I was only doing it for kudos due to my k9 vehicle conversion business, and to keep the dogs active, but it led to other things quite quickly. Dave and the team made it interesting and enjoyable doing the training, it was always well run and the setting was excellent for training. Several years later I still regard Dave and the folk I met at the dog unit as good friends of mine. I have sent many folk his way and he has reciprocated by sending many handlers down for my dog converted cars and vans for their transport needs.

Whilst I no longer actively work in the security field, it was always good fun popping back for a refresher day. I would never hesitate to recommend Dave and the Dog Unit for training – be it a GP dog or drugs expo etc they have just build a bigger and better facility, always getting good results from trainees and numerous finds at festivals they secure for the clients.

I have been using Dave and the dog unit for over 5 years now. During this time I have completed Nasdu EDD DD and pyrotechnics training courses with Dave.

Dave has such an extensive amount of knowledge in all areas and provides an interesting and enjoyable learning environment. This including field based training at different locations with excellent scenarios.
